A local court in the Akaltin district of the Sirdaryo region has delivered a verdict against a male individual who reportedly subjected a female street vendor to sexual harassment. The incident, which highlights ongoing concerns regarding public safety and the protection of women, was brought to light by the local broadcasting channel «Milliy» through its «Millar» program.
According to the official case files, the disturbing episode took place along the major M39 highway. A local resident, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, approached a woman selling goods by the roadside and made unsolicited, inappropriate propositions involving sexual acts for money, alongside physical harassment. Disturbed and angered by this blatant disrespect, the victim immediately chose to report the perpetrator to law enforcement authorities.
Internal affairs officers investigated the circumstances and subsequently compiled an administrative report against the offender under Article 41-1 (Part 1) of the Administrative Responsibility Code. The case was swiftly forwarded to the court for adjudication. During the trial, the offender reportedly confessed to the accusations, attempting to use his intoxicated state as an excuse while pleading for leniency from the judge.
Meanwhile, the victim maintained a firm stance, demanding that strict legal measures be enforced to deter such behavior. She reportedly emphasized in court that unchecked misconduct creates a permissive environment for wrongdoers. Taking the evidence and testimonies into account, the court sentenced the offender to 5 days of administrative detention.
Furthermore, the court informed the victim of her legal right to pursue civil litigation to recover any material and moral damages inflicted upon her by the incident. The case underscores the persistent social friction surrounding public decency and the enforcement of protective regulations.
