Amid ongoing developments within the national energy sector, Siroj Bekchanov has officially assumed the position of director at the state institution 'Directorate for the Construction of the Atomic Workers' Town' under the Uzatom agency. Representatives from the agency's press service confirmed the appointment, which marks a significant operational step in supporting the country's controversial and ambitious nuclear infrastructure projects.

Bekchanov is a graduate of Urgench State University and has reportedly built his career in the Khorezm region, holding various local administrative positions related to construction, regional infrastructure, municipal services, and socio-economic development. Prior to this new assignment, he served as the deputy khokim of the Khorezm region, overseeing construction, communications, public utilities, ecology, and urban greening initiatives.

In his new capacity, Bekchanov will be tasked with organizing the complex construction works for a dedicated residential area designed to house future nuclear power plant specialists and their families. The sprawling complex is currently being developed in the Farish district of the Jizzakh region, located roughly 16 kilometers away from the primary nuclear power plant construction site. Official projections state the town is planned to accommodate up to 10,000 residents.

Earlier statements from Uzatom leadership allegedly indicated that the planned residential hub will feature modern schools, sports complexes, cultural centers, and branches of higher education institutions. Officials claim that the conceptual planning process involves examining foreign urban development practices, purportedly drawing comparisons with methods utilized in Belarus and Russia.
