International telecommunications conglomerate VEON has purportedly reached a definitive agreement to acquire a 100 percent stake in the Uzbek mobile operator Perfectum. The total value of the transaction, which allegedly accounts for the assumption of existing corporate debts, is estimated at approximately 207 million dollars.

According to statements released by the company, this substantial sum supposedly includes the absorption of roughly 93 million dollars in financial liabilities owed by Perfectum. The funds required for this acquisition are claimed to be allocated entirely from VEON's existing liquidity reserves, avoiding external credit dependencies.

The European-headquartered group asserts that all necessary regulatory and governmental approvals for the transaction have been secured. The acquisition process is expected to reach its formal completion by the end of October, which could significantly reshape the competitive landscape of the local telecommunications market.

The acquired assets reportedly comprise a total of 115 MHz of frequency resources across the 850 and 3800 MHz bands, legacy network equipment, and an independent 5G network infrastructure built on Nokia technologies. VEON's internal projections claim that this purchase will expand Beeline Uzbekistan's frequency capacity by nearly 50 percent.

However, independent observers continue to raise concerns regarding the overall transparency of the asset's prior privatization process. Earlier reports highlighted that the company's state shares were transferred under questionable circumstances without adequate public disclosure of competitive tender results, casting a shadow over the transaction.
