A grieving mother in Tashkent, who lost her two-year-old son in a tragic traffic accident in August 2020, has recorded a video appeal to Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, seeking intervention in her case. The accident occurred on Yunusota Street, where a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by a 31-year-old former Tashkent police department employee struck the mother and child on an unregulated pedestrian crossing.

Medical examinations at the time confirmed that the driver was intoxicated, leading to criminal proceedings under the article for traffic safety violations. According to the victim, the perpetrator was sentenced to five and a half years in a settlement colony, but was released on parole after serving only about a year of his sentence.

In May 2021, a court ordered the offender to pay 200 million soms in moral damages to the mother. However, over the subsequent years, she has reportedly received only 50 million soms, leaving a balance of 150 million soms unpaid. Enforcement proceedings in the Kibray district were allegedly halted twice because the debtor purportedly has no official employment or registered property.

The mother stated that she had previously sought assistance from the General Prosecutor's Office and the human rights ombudsman without success. With official channels failing to enforce the court decision fully, she is now calling for high-level intervention to ensure that justice is finally served.
