Recent reports circulating on social media regarding hundreds of suspected measles cases in Tashkent, along with over 10,000 individuals under observation, have sparked widespread public discussion. In response, the press service of the Ministry of Health issued a formal statement clarifying that the epidemiological situation across the capital and the entire country remains fully stable, with no grounds for genuine concern.

According to the ministry, the figures actively discussed online do not represent a sudden outbreak, but rather constitute cumulative statistical data collected over the first nine months of the year 2026. Authorities stressed that interpreting these aggregate numbers as a short-term crisis or immediate surge is fundamentally misleading.

Official statistics indicate a positive trend, showing that measles incidence rates have decreased by 40 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. The Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health has urged social media users and local commentators to avoid misinterpreting official data and spreading unfounded panic.

Meanwhile, preventive healthcare measures and routine immunizations continue to be implemented systematically. Specifically, during the past nine months in Tashkent alone, nearly 47,500 one-year-old children and over 42,700 six-year-old children received the combined MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine as part of scheduled inoculation campaigns.
