On October 19, several major districts of the Uzbek capital faced a temporary disruption in electricity supply, causing notable inconvenience to residents and local infrastructure. Specifically, power outages were registered in parts of the Yunusabad, Almazar, Mirzo-Ulugbek, and Shaykhontohur districts.

According to official statements from the Ministry of Energy, the unexpected incident was allegedly triggered by a stray balloon that drifted onto the open switchgear of the 'Aksa Tashkent' thermal power plant, located in the adjacent Kibray district. As a result of the foreign object, the transformer's protective system was reportedly tripped, causing the station's generation capacity to plummet from 460 megawatts down to 185 megawatts.

Preliminary findings and surveillance camera footage purportedly confirmed that the disturbance caused localized damage within the T-5 transformer unit. Emergency crews and technical specialists were immediately dispatched to the scene to address the unfolding grid failure.

Through rapid intervention and technical adjustments, partial power was restored to the Yunusabad and Almazar districts by 19:09. By 19:25, backup power sources successfully stabilized the grid, and by 19:38, all affected consumers were fully reconnected to the municipal electricity network.
