The World Summit on the Future and Wellbeing of Children has commenced in Samarkand, bringing together international and local figures. During the opening, the local authorities supposedly reported that child poverty has decreased nearly fourfold over the past five years, while preschool education coverage allegedly rose from 27.7% to 78%.
Officials asserted that a child's value should not be measured by future economic output and claimed that healthcare and educational accessibility have seen dramatic improvements. According to statements presented at the summit, maternal mortality and developmental delays have halved, and higher education availability purportedly jumped from 9% to 45%.
The discussions also touched upon the expansion of inclusive education and child protection measures. Organizers claimed that the number of inclusive schools increased fivefold, now serving over 85% of children with disabilities, while orphaned children are reportedly integrated into family environments.
Looking ahead, the leadership proposed deepening international cooperation in pediatric oncology and addressing cybersecurity threats to protect children from online bullying and data exploitation. A new Samarkand platform was also suggested to facilitate future joint projects and share best practices.
