The Uzbek capital is set to host Tashkent Design Week from October 26 to November 1, 2026, serving as a global forum for architects, urban planners, designers, and creative industry leaders to debate the evolution of urban landscapes. According to the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, the central focus of the forthcoming forum will revolve around the massive "New Tashkent" initiative and the transformative role of design in shaping modern cities.
The event agenda is designed around two core tracks: the practical blueprinting of innovative urban spaces and the integration of international design standards. Discussions will span everything from industrial and interior design to holistic urban design codes and streetscapes, with particular emphasis on climate-resilient construction, local cultural heritage, and balancing commercial developments with the everyday well-being of residents.
A major highlight of the week will be the inaugural public unveiling of the official New Tashkent architectural model, situated within the central atrium of the Tashkent City Mall. Featuring bespoke scenography developed by Koç Construction, the exhibit is intended to provide a comprehensive glimpse into the ambitious expansion, framing technical debates on material sustainability and large-scale infrastructural planning.
Running alongside the exhibition, specialized panel sessions co-organized with Central Asian University (CAU) will convene notable international and regional figures. Anticipated contributors include representatives from ATELIER BRÜCKNER—currently implementing the State Museum of History project based on Tadao Ando's concept—as well as master planners from Cross Works, officials from the New Tashkent Directorate, and prominent architectural collectives such as Lyudi Architects, ARC Architects, and SAD Studio.
The program will also spotlight curated product design displays featuring experimental pieces by regional and international creators utilizing traditional artisanal techniques. The event builds upon the momentum of its previous edition, which engaged over a thousand in-person visitors across 20 venues and garnered a digital audience exceeding six million people.
