The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan has officially registered departmental regulatory documents aimed at replacing traditional paper documentation with electronic counterparts. Amendments and additions have been introduced to 33 departmental regulatory acts, effectively establishing a legal framework for citizens to present digital documents and for relevant organizations to accept them.
Under the updated regulations, individuals can now utilize digital versions of documents available via the my.gov.uz portal and the 'Ijtimoiy karta' (Social Card) mobile application instead of physical copies. This initiative covers a wide range of essential papers, including biometric passports, ID cards, birth and marriage certificates, pension certificates, disability records, war veteran IDs, and student cards. *
The authorities claim that these digital documents will be universally accepted in commercial banks for financial operations, notary offices for legal actions, and airports for domestic flight check-ins. Additionally, paper documents will reportedly no longer be required for receiving war veteran compensations, signing pawnshop agreements, utilizing telecommunication services, donating blood, or registering for military service, building upon the unified digital services introduced recently.
