Plans have been announced to construct a brand new city, designated as New Qarshi, designed to accommodate a population of 500,000 in the Qashqadaryo region. This initiative was reportedly unveiled by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his working visit to the southern province.

According to the released project outlines, the new urban settlement will occupy 5,000 hectares at the intersection of Qarshi city, as well as the Kukdala and Qarshi districts. Additionally, authorities intend to launch the construction of the 'Yangi Nasaf' eco-complex spanning 235 hectares along a canal in the Qarshi district, utilizing modern architectural and environmental concepts.

Meanwhile, official national statistics indicate a persistent downward trend in the number of registered marriages throughout the country. Government data reportedly shows that the annual number of marriages has been decreasing consistently over the past four years.

Statistics suggest that marriages dropped from 305,000 in 2021 to roughly 267,000 in 2025, marking a noticeable cumulative decline of about 12.5 percent. Observers note that while the figures reflect a clear statistical shift, the underlying social or economic reasons for this continuous reduction remain unspecified in official reports.
