Several young children attending preschool educational institutions in the city of Fergana have reportedly exhibited symptoms of acute food poisoning. According to official reports provided by the Food Safety Committee and covered by Sof.uz, the incident affected children across kindergartens No. 2, No. 7, and No. 47.
The affected children sought medical assistance at the Fergana Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital, presenting with symptoms such as elevated body temperature, abdominal pain, general weakness, nausea, and diarrhea. As of 11:00 AM on October 26, approximately 28 children remain hospitalized and are currently receiving medical treatment. Officials claim that the overall condition of the hospitalized children is stable, with no critical cases reported so far.
Furthermore, 23 children whose conditions were evaluated as satisfactory have been discharged home following necessary medical consultations and recommendations. Initial epidemiological investigations have identified the food suppliers, as well as the specific prepared meals including breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided to the facilities. Bacteriological samples of the food items have been collected for thorough laboratory analysis.
Authorities emphasize that epidemiological inquiries and laboratory tests regarding the incident are still ongoing. This event echoes past safety concerns within the preschool sector, recalling a large-scale mass poisoning incident in September 2025 across Tashkent region, which affected over 1,900 children and led to subsequent criminal convictions.
