Authorities in Tashkent have launched comprehensive road rehabilitation projects aimed at establishing dedicated lanes for public transport and upgrading deteriorated road infrastructure. Covering a total span of over five kilometers, the works are scheduled to be finalized between late November and December, following a strict municipal timeline.
According to reports from the Traffic Management Center, construction efforts are currently underway along several major thoroughfares, including Shahrisabz, Amir Temur, and New Sergeli streets. Specifically, a one-kilometer stretch of Shahrisabz Street, running from Amir Temur Street to Makhtumkuli Street, saw work commence on October 17.
Along Amir Temur Street, a 2.73-kilometer segment stretching from the Yunusabad metro station to Bogishamol Street is undergoing phased reconstruction. The second phase of this project covers 1.3 kilometers and is slated to run through December 10, causing noticeable shifts in traffic patterns.
Similar infrastructural updates are taking place on New Sergeli Street, targeting a 1.36-kilometer section from the intersection with Shota Rustaveli Street to the overpass leading toward the Sergeli district. The initial phase of construction on this corridor is scheduled to last from October 24 through November 30.
Municipal representatives claim that these initiatives are designed to boost public transit efficiency, reduce commuter travel times, and improve overall passenger convenience. In the meantime, motorists have been urged to account for temporary traffic restrictions and strictly adhere to roadside signage throughout the duration of the repairs.
