Uzbekistan is reportedly planning to introduce a Hungarian technology for producing road bitumen by incorporating rubber crumb derived from worn-out car tires. The total value of this prospective project is estimated at 35 million US dollars, aiming to modernize local infrastructure materials.
According to reports from the «Dunyo» news agency, representatives from Hungary's MOL Group and Uzbekistan's SHB ROAD INVEST held a strategic meeting in Budapest. The negotiations were organized with the direct support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan to foster industrial cooperation between the two nations.
During the talks, the parties focused on transferring rubber-modified bitumen (RMB) production technology to Uzbekistan. This method involves recycling discarded automotive tires and utilizing the resulting rubber powder as an additional raw material component in the preparation of durable road construction binders.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the companies signed a memorandum of cooperation outlining joint efforts to thoroughly study the implementation of the technology in Uzbekistan. If fully realized, the initiative is expected to expand waste tire recycling capacities and strengthen technological ties between the enterprises.
