Over the first ten months of 2026, Uzbekistan recorded more than 3,000 cases of illegal consumption of natural gas and electricity, alongside various other violations within the domestic energy sector. According to reports from the Uzbek Energy Inspection, the total financial damage inflicted upon the state budget as a result of these widespread irregularities reached an estimated 900.3 billion soms, highlighting deep-seated challenges in resource management and enforcement.

Official data reveals that violators illegally drained 144.3 million cubic meters of natural gas and 243.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. Financial losses stemming strictly from unauthorized gas usage were calculated at 441.2 billion soms, while electricity-related infractions cost the state an additional 459.1 billion soms. Furthermore, inspections uncovered severe discrepancies in petroleum product distribution, successfully blocking the sale of 7,800 tons of substandard fuel across 330 separate incidents.

Compounding these issues, widespread safety non-compliance at energy enterprises forced authorities to suspend operations for 168 working brigades, while holding 121 officials strictly accountable through disciplinary measures. Meanwhile, regulatory adjustments reportedly corrected billing errors for 283 business entities, reducing their utility liabilities significantly following comprehensive audits.
