️ In Uzbekistan, over the past year, more than 57,000 names of unregistered and counterfeit (contrafact) medicinal drugs have been identified. This situation has led several reputable foreign manufacturers to halt supplies of over 20 original drugs to the domestic market, posing a serious threat to public health and the development of the pharmaceutical sector.
️ As noted during a meeting with the president, the spread of counterfeits is becoming a significant obstacle to attracting large international pharmaceutical companies (Big Pharma). Before launching production, they assess how reliably the country's system for controlling the quality and safety of medicines functions. The current situation is slowing this process and negatively impacting economic growth.
️ In this regard, it was emphasized that the fight against the illegal circulation of medicines should be conducted as rigorously and uncompromisingly as the fight against narcotic and psychotropic substances. This approach is considered necessary to protect citizens' health and establish order in the market.
️ It is reported that in the near future, a draft law will be developed that significantly tightens liability for the production and sale of substandard and counterfeit drugs. According to the authorities, this will better protect citizens' health and create conditions for the entry of leading global pharmaceutical companies into the market, although practical results remain to be seen.
