In the Sergeli District of Tashkent, schoolchildren and other students are being forced to cross a canal via narrow pipes. Videos of this incident are being widely shared on social media, raising concerns among residents. Authorities have commented on the situation.

The city administration explained that the area was previously transferred to the city from the Zangiota District. Currently, two large residential complexes with their own schools and kindergartens have been built here, but some children continue to attend educational institutions on the other side of the canal. The nearest safe crossing is located approximately 500 meters upstream, yet many residents use the pipes to shorten their route.

The administration noted that the territory remains a construction zone. In the near future, tender procedures will be conducted, after which the construction of a full-fledged bridge designed for vehicle traffic and safe pedestrian crossing will begin. Until the work is completed, the site will be patrolled by employees of the Emergency Situations Management Department.

Previously, a pedestrian bridge stood at this location, but it was dismantled due to its emergency condition. Despite being intended only for pedestrians, cars regularly drove across it, creating dangerous situations and leading to the structure's collapse.

Following appeals from residents, the Sergeli District administration decided to temporarily secure the existing passage across the canal via pipes until construction work is completed.
