The representative business forum "Italy – Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan" commenced its work at the InterContinental Tashkent hotel in the capital. The event, dedicated to innovations for sustainable agroecosystems, regenerative agriculture, and digitalization, brought together agriculture ministers and leading experts from the region on a single platform to seek answers to global food security challenges.
Participating in the forum are Italy's Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida, Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, as well as deputy heads of relevant agencies from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. Participants are discussing the implementation of advanced agrotechnologies, rational use of land and water resources, and accelerating the digital transformation of the industry.
Opening the ceremony, Uzbekistan's Minister of Agriculture Ibrohim Abdurahmonov emphasized that the meeting symbolizes a new stage of cooperation. According to him, in the modern world, agriculture has ceased to be mere production—today it is a sphere of innovation and adaptability. The minister noted the necessity of supporting farmers through technologies and creating sustainable income sources while strictly adhering to water conservation principles.
During the speeches, representatives of the delegations from Italy, Central Asian countries, and Azerbaijan concurred that only through experience exchange and attracting investments can sustainable agroecosystems be formed. Special attention was paid to solutions enabling the agricultural sector to adapt to climate changes. The joint efforts of the countries are aimed at ensuring food security across the entire region.
The outcome of the business meeting was the adoption of the final communiqué of the business forum. The document consolidates the reached agreements and defines concrete steps to elevate cooperation in the agri-food sector to a qualitatively new level. Uzbekistan confirmed its readiness to act as an active partner in implementing joint investment projects and introducing Italian technologies into the region's agriculture.
