A car crash occurred on Friday in Martin County, Florida, near Jupiter Island, involving golf legend Tiger Woods. According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the 50-year-old Woods was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. His Land Rover rolled over on a two-lane road after he attempted to pass a pressure cleaner truck but clipped the back end of the truck’s trailer.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek stated that Woods and the person in the other vehicle were not injured. The golfer managed to crawl out of the passenger door of his Land Rover before officers arrived. Authorities reported that Woods was showing signs of impairment at the scene.
A breathalyzer test at Martin County Jail found no alcohol, with investigators believing Woods' impairment was drug or medication-related. However, Woods refused a urine test. He has been charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test, all classified as misdemeanors.
Under Florida law, Woods must remain in custody for at least eight hours before being released on bond. This marks at least the third time Woods has been involved in a car crash: the most recent incident was on February 23, 2021, in Los Angeles, when his car veered off a coastal road, causing multiple leg and ankle injuries. Woods later said he nearly lost his legs.
Woods has previously faced DUI-related issues: in 2017, he was charged with DUI, initially claiming he had taken a bad mix of painkillers, but later pleaded guilty to reckless driving. This incident highlights ongoing personal and professional challenges for the renowned athlete, raising questions about his conduct and legal troubles in the U.S.
