In the Shaykhantakhur district of Tashkent, an illegal transplant of 108 trees has been uncovered on Abu Ali ibn Sino Street in the "Yunona" neighborhood. According to the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, an inspection was conducted based on a resident complaint, revealing that 12 juniper and 95 eldar pine trees were transplanted without authorization in a closed collector area.

The investigation found that 107 of the transplanted trees, nearly all of them, subsequently dried out and died. Despite previously applying for permission from the Tashkent City Ecology Department and being denied, the work was carried out arbitrarily, leading to the widespread loss of vegetation and highlighting a breach of environmental regulations.

The damage to the environment has been assessed at 881.268 million Uzbek soums, as per a Cabinet of Ministers resolution, intended to cover compensation for ecological harm and restoration efforts. Currently, the collected materials are being prepared for submission to law enforcement agencies, and strict measures are expected against those involved in the violation, including potential legal proceedings to address the negligence.

This incident occurs amidst broader environmental initiatives in Tashkent, such as plans to create a National Dendrological Park and other projects under priority ecological programs for 2026–2030, presented under presidential guidance, which aim to establish botanical gardens and arboretums covering at least 100 hectares in Karakalpakstan, all regions, and the capital by 2028. The case underscores the critical need for stringent oversight and enforcement to protect urban green spaces and ensure sustainable development in the city.
