In the Tashkent district of Tashkent region, pharmaceutical drugs illegally imported from abroad via circuitous routes, with an estimated total value of approximately 1 billion Uzbek soums (around $80,000), have been uncovered. This was reported by the press service of the State Security Service (SSS). The case was exposed during an operational measure conducted in collaboration between the SSS and Customs authorities.

It was revealed that a 35-year-old individual had been storing the drugs in his residential apartment and engaging in their sale to pharmacies in the capital. During the inspection of the storage facility, a total of 76,318 units of drugs across 119 types, contained in 3,356 boxes, including brands such as Frotu, Budenofalk, Gaviscon, and Baraclude, were identified and formally seized as evidence.

Samples of the drugs were taken and sent to the Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety for expert analysis. Investigative actions are ongoing regarding the case prior to the initiation of a formal criminal investigation.

Previously, in Andijan region, an operational measure led to the discovery of three clandestine laboratories producing counterfeit drugs. Over 60,000 units of medical drugs, totaling 122 types and valued at 1.1 billion soums, were seized as material evidence. Preliminary information suggests they were illegally imported from Kyrgyzstan.
