In a devastating shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, eight children aged between one and 14 years old have been killed, with police describing the incident as a “domestic disturbance.” The shooting began around 05:00 local time, targeting two homes on the same block and a third residence in the neighborhood, leaving a total of 10 people shot. Authorities reported that the gunman fled in a stolen car after the attack, leading to a police chase that ended with the suspected shooter being killed by officers.

Shreveport Police Corporal Chris Bordelon stated that officers arrived at a home shortly before 06:00 and discovered the children’s bodies, noting, “All of the deceased in this case are juveniles.” The police characterized the call as “domestic in nature,” with one victim fleeing to a nearby residence. Mayor Tom Arceneaux expressed profound grief, saying, “We have hurting families, we have hurting police officers, coroners’ personnel. This affects the entire community, so we all mourn with these families.” He added that this might be “the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had in Shreveport” and called for prayers for the affected families and the city.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and US House Speaker Mike Johnson, who represents the district where the shooting occurred, commented on the “heartbreaking tragedy,” offering condolences and thanking law enforcement for their response. Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith emphasized that the investigation is being coordinated with the Louisiana State Police and other agencies, stating, “We are going to be working diligently however long it takes to get some answers to what has taken place.” The identities of the shooter and victims have not been released pending notification of family members, highlighting the ongoing impact on the community.
