German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Tuesday that Germany benefits from its military support for Ukraine, learning from Kyiv's battlefield innovations in drone technology and cyber defense.

At a roundtable with German and Ukrainian officials and industry representatives, Pistorius stated: "Ukraine is a country that, out of necessity, has developed an unbelievable capacity for innovation and speed. They do not develop technologies under laboratory conditions, but rather — quite literally — on the battlefield."

Pistorius announced plans to send more military attaches to the German embassy in Kyiv to facilitate closer defense cooperation.

German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche said a dedicated liaison office would be established for German companies seeking collaboration with Ukraine.

Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil indicated that Germany's 2027 budget, to be presented Wednesday, will show continued support for Ukraine. Berlin has pledged €11.6 billion for 2027 and €8.5 billion annually from 2028 to 2030.
