Uzbekistan and the Seychelles have signed a General Cooperation Agreement between their governments, which will serve as an official roadmap for developing bilateral relations, Podrobno.uz reports.

The agreement was signed following talks in Tashkent between Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Seychelles Minister for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Barry Faure. The diplomats outlined specific steps to intensify political dialogue and establish joint consultation mechanisms at the level of foreign ministries.

Special attention was paid to identifying common ground in trade and economic cooperation. The sides also discussed prospects for collaboration in tourism, where both countries have significant potential for exchanging experience and increasing tourist flows.

Saidov expressed confidence that the visit would serve as a starting point for bringing interstate relations to a qualitatively new level. Beyond the bilateral agenda, the foreign ministers exchanged views on topical international issues, reaffirming their commitment to coordinating efforts within multilateral organizations.

Developing ties with the Indian Ocean island nation aligns with Uzbekistan's strategy to expand the geography of its diplomatic and economic presence worldwide.
