A tiger that escaped captivity near the eastern German city of Leipzig has been shot dead by police after attacking at least one person, authorities said on Sunday.
The animal belonged to renowned trainer Carmen Zander, who keeps a group of big cats, according to the Bild newspaper, citing the daily Leipziger Volksstimme.
Police said the injured man suffered only minor injuries, though Bild reported he was hospitalized.
A police spokeswoman confirmed no other tigers had escaped. The tiger fled from a private facility in Schkeuditz, west of Leipzig, and was shot in nearby gardens.
