Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed it targeted Israel's Ramat David airbase with ballistic missiles, describing the strike as retaliation for "widespread killing and displacement" in southern Lebanon's Tyre and Nabatieh regions. The IRGC warned that any repeat of aggression would trigger broader responses "encompassing all American-Zionist targets in the region."

Mohsen Rezaee, military adviser to Iran's supreme leader, stated on X that "the aggressors received their response" and cautioned that any new action would be met with "a more crushing response and heavier costs."

U.S. President Donald Trump said he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to urge restraint, claiming the Iranian strikes "didn't hurt anybody." Trump added he was close to a "final deal" with Iran and did not want it to "blow up." However, Israeli officials had earlier signaled plans for a "forceful response."

The escalation follows Iran's repeated warnings over Israel's ongoing invasion of southern Lebanon, which continued despite a recent ceasefire agreement. Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs killed at least two people earlier Sunday, prompting Iran's parliament speaker to threaten "direct confrontation."
