President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent condolences to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following a deadly explosion and fire at a gas processing complex in the Ras Laffan industrial zone, which resulted in numerous fatalities and serious injuries.

According to presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov, the head of state expressed sympathy to the families and loved ones of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

On the evening of June 21, an explosion occurred at the Barzan gas processing plant in the Ras Laffan industrial zone near Doha, the capital of Qatar. At least 13 people were killed and 66 others injured. QatarEnergy reported that the disaster was caused by a "technical incident" during the commissioning of the facility.

The press service of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that no Uzbek citizens were among the injured. The Uzbek embassy in Doha remains in constant contact with Qatar's Ministry of Interior and other relevant authorities, the ministry's press secretary noted.
