At least four people were killed in an explosion at a cafe in central Damascus, Syrian state news agency SANA reported on Thursday.

The blast occurred at a cafe on Al-Nasser Street in the Al-Marjah district, with 10 others injured, according to the Syrian health ministry.

The cafe is near the Palace of Justice, close to the Hejaz railway station and Al-Marjah Square in the capital’s busy commercial center. The cause of the explosion remains unknown.

An Al Jazeera correspondent in Damascus said the explosion caused limited damage inside the cafe, and security forces had cordoned off the area.

SANA said authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion.
