Germany produced over 616 million liters of non-alcoholic beer in 2025, a 6.5% increase from 2024, while traditional beer output fell 5.8% to 6.8 billion liters, according to the Federal Statistical Office.

The value of non-alcoholic beer reached approximately €696 million. For every liter of non-alcoholic beer, breweries produced 11.1 liters of alcoholic beer, compared to 12.5:1 in 2024.

The German Brewers' Association said the country's 1,500 breweries offer a wide variety of alcohol-free brands, with small and craft breweries driving innovation.

Meanwhile, Germany's Federal Constitutional Court is reviewing Bavaria's police law, which allows officers to intervene before a concrete threat emerges. Justice Yvonne Ott described the law as "unparalleled nationwide."

The law, enacted in 2017-2018 in response to terrorism threats, permits covert searches, undercover officers, drones, and surveillance. Critics, including the Green Party and the Society for Civil Rights, argue it violates basic rights of innocent people.

German industrial output rose 0.9% in May, beating expectations. Economist Michael Herzum called it "a sign of life, but not yet a comeback." The government also approved a plan for a state-owned natural gas reserve, costing €1.2-1.5 billion, funded by a levy on consumers.
