The United States carried out a third night of attacks on Iran, targeting military sites along the country's southern coast. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes began at 4:45 pm ET (20:45 GMT) on Monday and lasted five hours, hitting locations in Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.

Iran retaliated with multiple waves of strikes across the Gulf, hitting two UAE-flagged oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait. One Indian crew member was killed and eight others wounded in the tanker attack, according to the UAE.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for drone and missile attacks on a US Patriot system, fuel tanks, and a watchtower in Kuwait, as well as weapons depots and a communications center at al-Juffair Base in Bahrain. Jordan shot down four Iranian missiles, the IRGC later launched ballistic missiles at a US airbase in Jordan.

US President Donald Trump formally notified Congress on July 10 that hostilities with Iran had resumed on July 7. Trump claimed Iran's offensive capabilities were being dismantled but suggested a deal was still possible. He also reiterated demands for Gulf nations to cover the cost of protecting shipping.

Iran's parliament introduced a bill to manage the Strait of Hormuz, as the US blockade of Iran's ports is set to begin at 20:00 GMT on Tuesday. Oil prices surged over 9%, with Brent crude reaching $81 a barrel, and transit through the strait dropped by 52%.
