Telegram’s short-link domain t.me has stopped working worldwide, preventing users from opening such links in browsers.

In response, Telegram automatically switched to the telegram.me domain. For instance, instead of https://t.me/gazetauz_uzb/52651, the app now suggests https://telegram.me/gazetauz_uzb/52651. However, Telegram apps still recognize t.me links and open them within the messenger.

According to the “Kod Durova” channel, the domain is currently blocked at the registry level for unknown reasons, with a serverHold status appearing on the t.me website. It is noted that such a status can be applied due to a legal dispute, internal investigation, law enforcement request, violation of registry rules, or a technical error.

The t.me domain belongs to Montenegro’s national domain zone, with the registry operator being doMEn. “Kod Durova” emphasizes that this is not about blocking by Roskomnadzor or Russian telecom operators.

Telegram founder Pavel Durov appealed to the registrar via social network X, asking for an explanation. “Hey domainME, t.me links are down. Can you clarify what the issue is?” Durov wrote.
