The United States has launched airstrikes against Iran for the 13th consecutive night, purportedly aimed at weakening the threat Iran poses to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. According to DW, US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that it targeted Iran's military command centers, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites, and maritime capabilities.

US President Donald Trump declared on his Truth Social platform that Iran would be held financially responsible for any damage to ships or cargo. He threatened to use seized Iranian assets to pay for damages. "From this point forth, any and all damages done to Ships, Cargo, or anything related thereto, will be paid for by Iranian Money that the United States has in its possession, and controls," Trump wrote.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded, calling Trump's threat a "dangerous precedent." "Seizing another nation's assets to pay for unrelated future claims is an incendiary precedent," he posted on X.

CENTCOM also claimed to have redirected 12 commercial vessels and disabled one to prevent ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports or coastal areas since "resuming the naval blockade against Iran nine days ago."

Tensions have further escalated after Iran-backed Houthi rebels allegedly attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. Trump threatened the Houthis with "major military punishment" if attacks continue.

Meanwhile, the US regime has signed a major nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia, alongside a separate bilateral safeguards pact, further complicating regional dynamics.
