The penultimate Diamond League meeting of the season in Zurich produced a spectacular night of athletics, with two world records and a historic pole vault competition thrilling a sell-out crowd of 25,000 at the Letzigrund Stadium.

Brazil's Alison Dos Santos opened the record-breaking spree in the 400m hurdles, clocking a sensational 45.80 seconds to shave 0.14 seconds off Karsten Warholm's previous mark from the Tokyo Olympics. Warholm finished second, calling their rivalry a "crazy event".

American Masai Russell followed in the 100m hurdles, winning in 12.09 seconds to break Tobi Amusan's 2022 world record of 12.12. Both Dos Santos and Russell earned $80,000 bonuses for their record-breaking runs.

The pole vault provided the evening's highlight, as Armand Duplantis cleared 6.25 metres to win a gripping duel with Greek vaulter Emmanouil Karalis, who set a personal best of 6.20. Both athletes attempted a world record of 6.32, marking the first time two vaulters had cleared 6.20 in the same competition.

Switzerland's Audrey Werro delivered a standout performance in the women's 800m, clocking 1:53.70 for the third-fastest time ever, just 0.42 seconds off Jarmila Kratochvilova's 41-year-old world record. Dutch star Femke Broeders-Bol finished second.

Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi won the men's 800m in a world-leading 1:41.76, holding off Algeria's Djamel Sedjati by 0.07 seconds, while American Cole Hocker took the 1500m in 3:31.71. Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen finished fifth as he continues his comeback from Achilles surgery.

Other highlights included American Kenny Bednarek's world-leading 19.62 in the 200m, Anna Cockrell's meet record 52.13 in the 400m hurdles, and Nicola Olyslagers' season-best 2.02m in the high jump.
