Drones recreated the outlines of the Twin Towers in the sky over New York Harbor to commemorate the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The light show took place on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the tragedy and featured nearly 3,000 lights — one for each person killed.

During the performance, the lights first rose above the harbor and then merged into the shape of the World Trade Center at its original architectural scale. The show, titled "2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor," was held over Lower Manhattan simultaneously with the traditional Tribute in Light installation at the site of the attacks.

The memorial installation was created with the participation of relatives of the victims, survivors, and emergency responders. Organizers presented it as a free public event dedicated to the memory of the victims and the unity of society.

Due to the drone flight, other small aircraft remained grounded for several hours. This was due to temporary safety restrictions.

Recall that on September 11, 2001, a series of terrorist attacks occurred in the United States. Four passenger planes were hijacked by terrorists: two of them crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, the third hit the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers and crew attempted to regain control of the plane.

As a result of the attacks, 2,977 people died. The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed, and the attacks became one of the largest tragic events in modern US history and had a significant impact on international politics and security measures worldwide.
