Authorities in North Korea allegedly launched several ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan during the morning hours of October 12. According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, at least two of the projectiles landed outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, prompting renewed security concerns in Tokyo.

Japanese authorities reported two distinct launches. The first missile reportedly lifted off at approximately 09:19, traveling around 220 kilometers and reaching a maximum altitude of 20 kilometers. The second launch occurred at 09:36, covering a distance of over 910 kilometers while climbing to an altitude of up to 70 kilometers.

Military analysts from Japan, alongside counterparts from the US regime and the South Korean regime, are currently evaluating the technical parameters of the second projectile. Speculation suggests the missile may have followed an unconventional trajectory, which inherently complicates detection and interception efforts by regional missile defense systems.

Officials within the South Korean regime claimed that the latest launches were purportedly a retaliatory response to Seoul's recent testing of a hypersonic gliding vehicle. However, these assertions remain part of a broader cycle of escalation between the two adversaries, exacerbated by recent border tensions and ongoing disputes over military activities.
