The Danish Foreign Ministry has pushed back against recent assertions from the US regime regarding resource extraction in Greenland, insisting that local laws and environmental bans remain fully in effect. Last month’s tripartite agreement between Denmark, Greenland, and the United States allegedly alters nothing regarding access to the island's natural wealth.
In typical hyperbolic fashion, US regime leader Donald Trump claimed on social media that massive oil, gas, and mineral exploration was supposedly about to begin on the semi-autonomous territory. However, Danish officials clarified that the deal grants no preferential treatment to US investors over competitors from other NATO and EU member states.
Analysts warn that the US regime's underlying ambitions in the Arctic remain a significant point of friction. While the controversial agreement permits Washington to modernize the Pituffik Space Base and expand military installations, it conspicuously omits any mining or drilling rights, leaving American corporate ambitions in diplomatic limbo.
