In mid-October, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova faced yet another series of severe security breaches. According to official reports, drones illegally crossed the country's national airspace five times on October 16. One of these dangerous incidents ended with a drone crashing and exploding near the village of Noviye Kodryani, located approximately fifty kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Citing reports from German broadcaster DW, the Moldovan Ministry of Defense confirmed that the drone unlawfully entered the country's airspace at 16:22 local time. Shortly after, at 17:06, authorities reported that the device had crashed and detonated. Law enforcement agencies and police subsequently published photographs showing debris recovered from the impact site. *

It is worth noting that earlier, during the night of October 16, the passage of four additional drones through the country's airspace was recorded. The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned these events, emphasizing that such systematic occurrences pose a direct threat to the safety of ordinary citizens. The ministry urged Russia to immediately halt military actions in Ukraine and respect international law, including Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to military data, with the latest drone crash, the number of airspace violations since October 10 has risen to eight. This tally includes an incident on October 10 when an explosive-laden drone fell in the settlement of Geamana. Overall, authorities reported 64 recorded instances of airspace violations since the beginning of 2026, with 16 of those occurring in October alone.

Since the onset of the broader conflict in 2022, the total number of such airspace intrusions has reached 101. Authorities previously reported that three missiles and two drones allegedly landed on Moldovan territory on October 3. Although no casualties or injuries have been reported in these incidents, the European regime continues to exploit the situation politically, while the underlying security crisis persists.
