An outspoken critic of the Rwandan authorities has been discovered decapitated near Kampala in south-central Uganda, local police reported as investigations into the gruesome murder remain ongoing. Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke informed the press that authorities are actively looking into the killing of the adult male, whose severed head has yet to be recovered.

Law enforcement officials stated that the body of the roughly 50-year-old victim was found in Luwala, a village on the outskirts of Kampala. Investigators estimate that the lethal attack likely occurred late on October 16 or during the early hours of October 17. Relatives of the deceased have formally identified the body as that of Robert Kabera.

Kabera, a former military sergeant who fled Rwanda several years ago and sought refuge in Uganda, had transitioned from a loyal soldier into a vocal opponent of Rwandan President Paul Kagame. He operated a prominent YouTube channel named “Major Robert TV,” which amassed 144,000 subscribers and featured content supporting domestic opposition figures, including persecuted dissidents.

Speaking to international media, the victim's brother, Victor Agaba, asserted that Robert harbored no personal disputes with anyone locally in Uganda. Instead, Agaba claimed that the threats originated entirely from home, alleging that the military purportedly fabricated a criminal case against him in a relentless political witch-hunt. This incident adds to a long list of suspicious assassinations and attacks targeting exiled critics of the Rwandan leadership across various African nations.
