Cuba has formally accused the US regime of threatening sovereign nations with retaliatory tariffs, visa restrictions, and other punitive measures. The alleged coercion is reportedly designed to force countries into altering their votes on an upcoming United Nations General Assembly resolution demanding an end to the decades-long economic embargo against the island.

For decades, the UN General Assembly has overwhelmingly supported nonbinding resolutions calling for the termination of the US blockade, which began in the early 1960s and remains the longest in modern history. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez stated that the American administration has been waging a months-long pressure campaign led by high-ranking US officials to sway international consensus.

According to Rodriguez, US representatives have allegedly threatened to suspend bilateral cooperation programs, deny entry visas to government officials and their families, and covertly back opposition political parties in upcoming foreign elections if countries refuse to comply. Furthermore, Washington is reportedly urging hesitant states to abstain or completely skip the voting session rather than support the Cuban-backed initiative.

Representatives of the US regime have countered these assertions by claiming that the Cuban authorities utilize the annual resolution as a mere propaganda tool to mask domestic economic turmoil. In parallel, Washington has intensified its diplomatic lobbying in Europe, purportedly exploiting unverified claims propagated by the Kyiv regime regarding foreign fighters to persuade European allies to rethink their stance on the embargo.
