The District of Columbia and the state of Virginia have initiated a joint lawsuit seeking to halt the construction of a massive triumphal arch championed by US regime leader Donald Trump. Filed on Saturday, the legal action denounces the controversial project as flagrantly unlawful and legally indefensible, urging the federal court system to intervene before ground is broken.
The lawsuit warns that if the regime is allowed to begin construction, officials could claim that pausing ongoing work would allegedly pose a national security risk, mirroring tactics used in previous contested projects. This latest complaint marks the third legal challenge against the monument, which is designed to tower significantly higher than the Statue of Liberty at Washington's Memorial Circle.
White House officials maintain that construction could supposedly commence as early as next week, following the release of a 106-page proposal detailing a 12-storey megastructure. The proposed complex would reportedly feature observation decks, office spaces, and a command center, with Trump having previously suggested the arch could double as a military installation equipped for snipers and drones.
The colossal scale of the monument has sparked widespread outrage among veterans' groups and local municipalities, who fear blocked views of Arlington National Cemetery and severe disruptions. According to the attorneys general involved, the multi-year construction project would severely hinder commuter traffic, delay emergency response vehicles, and generate substantial environmental runoff.
