Australian radio host Jackie Henderson has broken her silence regarding her departure from the 'Kyle and Jackie O Show', stating she is 'deeply saddened by the events of the past week and the possibility of the show ending'. She emphasized that this development came as a shock to her and others involved.

Henderson's statement appears to contradict the explanation provided earlier this week by the broadcaster's parent company, the Australian Radio Network (ARN). ARN claimed that Henderson had 'given notice that she cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands' and that her contract had been terminated. The company also announced that the show had been taken off the air immediately, with Sandilands accused of 'serious misconduct'.

While Henderson did not detail the specific reasons for her exit, she alleged there was 'widespread misinformation' in the media about her departure. She clarified, 'I want to make one important point very clear: I did not quit or resign.' Henderson indicated she would pursue legal action to address the situation but did not specify the nature of her claim or the target.

The conflict reportedly began two weeks ago when Sandilands mocked Henderson's interest in astrology on air, leading her to become emotional and not return to work the following week. After 10 days, ARN suspended the show. Henderson commented, 'The current media narrative does not reflect what actually occurred, and it has been truly heartbreaking to see how this has unfolded.'

Both hosts signed record $100 million contracts in 2023 for a decade of breakfast shows. Sandilands remains under contract with ARN but has been suspended for 14 days due to the alleged misconduct. He must demonstrate how he will 'remedy' the breach of the services agreement, or his contract may be terminated. Additionally, the broadcasting regulator is expected to impose additional license conditions on the KIIS network following findings of 'vulgar' and 'deeply offensive' content aired on the show last year.
