Eleven Uzbek citizens currently held at a foreign nationals' temporary detention facility in the South Korean city of Yeosu are scheduled to be returned to their homeland by the end of March. This was reported by the Dunyo.info information service.

Staff from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul visited the facility during the holy month of Ramadan. Diplomats met with their compatriots, familiarized themselves with their detention conditions, and provided necessary consular and legal assistance. Particular attention was paid to restoring communication between the citizens and their relatives.

A meeting was also held with the facility's management to discuss further development of practical cooperation between the embassy and the center's administration for the prompt resolution of issues affecting compatriots. The sides exchanged views on establishing emergency communication mechanisms to organize meetings involving consuls, lawyers, and interpreters, and reviewed matters related to providing medical and other necessary assistance.

According to the source, 11 Uzbek citizens are currently being held at this facility. Embassy staff conducted separate consular meetings with them and offered legal consultations. Following negotiations with the South Korean side, an agreement was reached to repatriate these citizens by the end of March.
