Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined conditions to end the war, including reparations and guarantees against future aggression. He wrote on X that he had spoken with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan and "reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region." Pezeshkian stated: "The only way to end this war — ignited by the Zionist regime and the US — is recognizing Iran's legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm [international] guarantees against future aggression."

The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced that its 32 member countries agreed to release 400 million barrels of oil from emergency reserves. This is the largest volume in the Paris-based organization's 52-year history. IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said: "The oil market challenges we are facing are unprecedented in scale, therefore I am very glad that IEA member countries have responded with an emergency collective action of unprecedented size." Since the war began, Brent crude oil prices have surged from around $70 to $90 per barrel.

Iran's new supreme leader is Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late supreme leader Ali Khamenei. His selection indicates that the Iranian government has opted for a confrontational path in the conflict with the US and Israel. Reports emerged that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the February 28 US-Israel strike, but Iranian authorities have not commented. US President Donald Trump previously called the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei "unacceptable."

US President Donald Trump claimed the war would end "soon," but provided no details. He said: "Any time I want it to end, it will end." Trump also alleged that Iran's military capabilities were "practically nothing left," but French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that Iran's capabilities have not been "reduced to zero." Macron stated: "Considerable damage has already been inflicted on Iran's military ballistic capabilities, but it continues to attack several countries in the region, and therefore its capabilities have not been reduced to zero."

Germany evacuated staff from its consulate in Erbil (Iraq's Kurdistan region), highlighting the escalating situation in the Middle East. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul visited the United Arab Emirates and held talks on the war. Wadephul said: "If they were ready for a diplomatic solution, it is achievable. But for now, this is what we hear from Tehran, they are not ready for a diplomatic solution. And as long as this is not the case, we still have to wait."

Spain formally dismissed its ambassador to Israel, Ana Maria Salomon, deepening a diplomatic rift over the US-Israel war against Iran, which the Spanish government opposes. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez previously called the war in Gaza "genocide," leading to accusations of antisemitism from Israel.
