Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu showcased close political ties during Modi's two-day visit to Israel. Modi's 2017 trip marked the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Israel, strengthening bilateral relations.
Modi's attire in the colors of Hindutva ideology and Sara Netanyahu's matching outfit highlighted ideological alignment. Both leaders frame their politics as a civilizational struggle against Islam and Islamism.
However, in Israel, Palestinians as well as Mizrahi and Ethiopian Jews face systemic discrimination and racism. In India, Muslim minorities also experience structural discrimination.
These realities indicate that neither Israel nor India are safe havens for all their citizens.
