India returned to winning ways in the T20 World Cup, defeating Zimbabwe by 72 runs in a crucial Super Eight match in Chennai. This victory sets up a virtual quarterfinal against the West Indies.

The defending champions set a mammoth target of 257 runs for Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett scored 97 not out, but his team finished at 184-6.

India's pace bowler Arshdeep Singh was the standout performer, taking 3-24 in his four overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya were the most economical bowlers.

India's aggressive batting was led by Sanju Samson, who scored 24 off 15 balls, and Abhishek Sharma, who top-scored with 55 off 30 balls. Pandya's 50 off 23 balls propelled the team past the 250-run mark.

India will now face the West Indies in a knockout match in Kolkata. South Africa has advanced to the semifinals and will play Zimbabwe in their final group match.
