A gas explosion occurred at a restaurant called 'Plov Center' in Shchuchinsk, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan, on the evening of February 26. The explosion resulted in seven fatalities and 26 injuries.

Five victims died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries in intensive care the following day. Among the deceased is a 16-year-old girl. 26 people sought medical attention, with 13 patients suffering burns of varying severity remaining hospitalized, and six others discharged to outpatient care.

During firefighting efforts, responders removed eight gas cylinders from the building to a safe distance, preventing further explosions. A criminal case has been initiated, with an investigation underway into compliance with fire safety regulations and gas equipment usage standards.
