In Uzbekistan's Samarkand region, officers from the State Security Service (SSS) and Border Troops have disrupted major channels for drug trafficking from Tajikistan. During special operations, more than 38 kilograms of prohibited substances were seized.

Three residents of Urgut district (aged 34 and 37) were detained with 14.7 kilograms of opium and 14.9 kilograms of hashish. The men crossed the border through Tajikistan's Panjakent district and were returning to Uzbekistan via alternative routes when they were caught red-handed.

In a separate incident, in the "Orzu" neighborhood, operatives discovered a hidden stash of 9 kilograms of opium extract in a private garage among marble stones. The owner of the premises is currently being identified.

All participants in the criminal schemes face up to 20 years of imprisonment under articles on smuggling and illegal drug trafficking in especially large quantities.
