Following the first meeting of the Uzbek-Tajik Supreme Interstate Council, a comprehensive package of documents was signed, outlining the development vectors for the two countries for the period 2026–2028. In addition to a Joint Statement on deepening allied relations, the parties approved programs and "roadmaps" in the fields of industrial cooperation, agro-industrial complex, mining, and new technologies.
The main focus of the signed package is on long-term economic planning. Specifically, programs to increase trade turnover and develop industrial cooperation were approved, along with a series of agreements aimed at simplifying trade procedures. These include the mutual application of electronic systems for certifying the origin of goods and the use of the "E-Permit" information system.
Technological and investment cooperation is reinforced by action plans in the mining industry for 2026–2028 and a protocol amending the agreement on the establishment of the "Uzbek-Tajik Investment Company." Furthermore, agreements were reached on coordinating radio frequency assignments in border zones.
The humanitarian block of documents includes agreements on scientific cooperation between academies of sciences and collaboration in healthcare. For the coming years, "roadmaps" for tourism development and a cultural events plan were also approved.
The document package also covers specialized areas: memoranda of cooperation were signed in state service, finance, education, innovation, and enforcement of court decisions. The implementation of these agreements is intended to elevate the multifaceted partnership between Tashkent and Dushanbe to a qualitatively new level.
Previously, it was reported that Uzbekistan and Tajikistan plan to double the volume of mutual trade by 2030.
