Kyrgyzstan has initiated the independent printing of its national currency for the first time in its history, as officially announced by President Sadyr Japarov. He emphasized that the country was previously compelled to outsource currency production to foreign states and pay for it, but this process has now changed.
President Japarov highlighted that Kyrgyzstan has obtained an international certificate confirming compliance with necessary standards. He further stated that the country is now prepared to print currency and state documents on a contractual basis for other nations. According to Japarov, Kyrgyzstan is already receiving orders from several countries, marking a significant step in enhancing economic self-reliance.
This development follows the launch in September 2023 of domestic production for national passports. At that time, specialized equipment was brought to the state printing house "Uchkun" under the presidential administration. Previously, passport blanks for Kyrgyz citizens were printed by Lithuania's Garsu Pasaulis company, while the national currency was produced at facilities in the United Kingdom and France. Now, these processes are being conducted domestically, which helps reduce costs and foster technological advancement.
