The Uzbek government plans to resume a program for the rest and rehabilitation of Ukrainian children in 2026. This was announced by Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko following a meeting in Tashkent on April 2. He stated that the children's rehabilitation program will be restored this year, and decisions will be made on providing additional humanitarian assistance.

Mishchenko described the humanitarian aid previously provided by Uzbekistan as "very important" and assessed the government decision on children's rehabilitation as "a significant contribution to our common victory." He also expressed gratitude for the treatment of the Ukrainian diaspora living in Uzbekistan.

The Ukrainian official emphasized that Ukrainians in Uzbekistan have the opportunity to live normally, work, and express themselves creatively. People who arrived after the start of Russian aggression have also adapted to local society. According to him, Ukrainians preserve their language and culture while integrating into Uzbek society, which serves mutual cultural enrichment.

It is recalled that Uzbekistan first accepted Ukrainian children for rest and rehabilitation in 2023, when 45 children stayed at a camp in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. In 2025, the country accepted 100 Ukrainian children and accompanying teachers, for whom skill classes, excursions, and sports competitions were organized. Additionally, Uzbekistan sent a humanitarian shipment of 2,000 "first-grader kits" to Ukraine via a return flight.
