It was revealed that a company named SADKOM LLC in Tobolsk (Tyumen Region, Russia) unjustifiably withheld the wages of 26 Uzbek citizens for February and March. This issue came to light during meetings held by representatives of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Yekaterinburg and the Agency for External Labor Migration with Uzbek nationals temporarily working in Tobolsk.
Based on appeals from compatriots, the consulate and migration agency conducted negotiations with the employer's management and general contractors. As a result of the talks, the employer acknowledged the debt and agreed to settle it.
According to the agreement, the wages of the 26 Uzbek workers, totaling 2 million rubles, have been calculated and will be transferred to their bank accounts in the coming days. Additionally, an agreement was reached to repay debts owed to another 80 citizens who had previously left the organization without receiving their salaries, with payment expected within the next week.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by migrant workers from Uzbekistan in Russia, despite diplomatic efforts to protect their rights. The resolution of this case demonstrates the active role of Uzbek authorities in addressing labor disputes, though it also underscores systemic issues in wage payment practices affecting migrant communities in the region.
